Nutraceutical Industry: A roadmap for building the value chain for the Nutraceutical Industry in Australia.
We are pleased to deliver this Roadmap for building a fully Australian Nutraceutical Industry. This report is the culmination of 18 months research in which we set out to answer the question: Is it possible to build a local Australian value chain for the Nutraceutical Industry? This research project was supported by the Victorian Government.Extractive Processing for the Nutraceutical Industry
Natural and raw products contain bioactive ingredients that are the key inputs in vitamins and other nutraceutical products. The current barrier for Australian growers to supply locally grown ingredients to the nutraceutical industry is the lack of extractive processors that can transform or extract the bioactives. With very little extractive processing technology in Australia, there is a strong need to invest in processing equipment. Essentially, it is the missing link in the value chain for establishing the local nutraceutical industry. The Algae and Seaweed Opportunity: An Australian Prospect.
The rapidly emerging industries for algae and seaweed provide a clear opportunity for Australia to engage. Research as part of this project has shown that Australia has a wealth of native species that have highly sought after nutraceutical benefits, such as omega-3 oils and inhibitors for collagen degradation. This research project has been undertaken by CSIRO and Sampano, thanks to support from Agrifutures and Swisse.Want to be involved?
